Scott A. Weisenberg focuses his practice on a wide variety of commercial and residential real estate transactions, construction related matters, and general corporate law. Scott began his legal career working in the litigation and real estate departments of a mid-sized Chicago law firm and spent the majority of the past ten years working as in-house counsel for a large residential real estate developer/general contractor/home builder. As general counsel, Scott was involved in all aspects of the acquisition, disposition, zoning and development of real property.
His recent experience includes:
- Negotiation for the acquisition of several parcels of improved and unimproved real estate for the future development of residential subdivisions and/or condominium developments.
- Appearing at various governmental hearings and meetings with public officials to discuss planning, zoning, land use and development matters.
- Participation in the due diligence investigation of real property relative to its suitability for residential development; including the study of the physical condition of the real estate and the analysis of potential governmental (and other legal) restrictions on development.
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating all documents related to the development and construction of residential subdivisions. Such documents include annexation agreements, development agreements, plats of subdivision, subcontract agreements, architect’s agreements, easements, covenants and homeowner declarations.
- Negotiating commercial loan documents.
- Drafting and negotiating a variety of corporate documents including, purchase/sale agreements, operating agreements, corporate resolutions, employment agreements, vendor agreements, and confidentiality agreements.
- Representing the purchaser of assets from an institutional lender pursuant to Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code.

Scott lives in the Chicago Wicker Park neighborhood with his wife and two sons. Scott enjoys playing golf and performs publicly singing and playing acoustic guitar.
